Spring Break Nationals 23 Christened the New Ocean Center with a World Class Event
Daytona Beach, FL – “SBN 23 exceeded everyone’s expectations” event promoter Paul Papadeas told 12voltnews.com. Continuing Papadeas said “Years of construction on the facility plus the overall state of the mobile electronics business, show dates and the economy took its toll on our event the past couple of years. Construction on the Ocean Center is finally complete. As all who attended can attest, SBN 23 was an unqualified success.”
A quick orientation around the new Ocean Center gave this writer an understanding of just how much the new center was expanded and how perfect the facility is for major 12 volt industry events. The old center footprint fits easily into the 100,000 square foot show floor of the new facility.
Thirty plus industry brands exhibited on the show floor. In addition, a number of area retailers presented their finest show cars to the throng of spectators. Many of the demo vehicles graced the SEMA and CES show floors. Once word gets out there will undoubtedly be vendors who in hindsight will recognize they missed an opportunity.
The new Ocean Center also offered area distributors a much better venue for their dealer shows. Audio America, Lesco and Cole’s Distributing took full advantage of the opportunity to show dealers their 2009 product line ups.
Well appointed breakout rooms provided a venue for dozens of business seminars and brand specific training sessions.
Sound Off competitions hosted by IASCA, dB Drag Racing and MECA were also staged under the roof of the massive new Ocean Center.
SBN 23, March 14/15, hit the key spring break weekend. Thousands of those spring breakers took the opportunity to spend two days admiring the best 12 volt filled vehicles on the planet.
Saturday and Sunday schedules were also filled with traditional SBN spectator contests, live entertainment and the world famous bikini contests. Saturday evening featured a neon contest and an opportunity for those outside the Ocean Center to hang out around great demo vehicles and experience mega bass in the evening glow of neon and LEDs.
The possibility of hosting national 12 volt industry events, with a consumer component, at the Ocean Center is now more real than ever. SBN 23 was certainly a very positive first step.
Note: The scope of SBN 23 is too great to cover effectively in one web post. Check back for more SBN coverage in the next several days for 12voltnews.com updates.
