AUSTIN, TX (10.11.2017) – The dB Drag Racing Association’s new format of competition named “Bagger Beatz,” aimed with the Motorcycle enthusiasts in mind, will be showcased in Louisville KY. In conjunction with the Car Audio Championships, Bagger Beatz will hold a competition at the Kentucky Expo Center in the Broadbent Arena on Saturday, October 14th.
dB Drag Racing’s Celise Harris stated, “As the aftermarket audio is seeing a surge in Motorcycle audio competition, this new format is set to bring additional competitive audio interest to the bike world. We are thrilled there to see this Bagger Beatz Competition in conjunction with the Car Audio Championship 2017.”
Bagger Beatz is a sound competition format developed exclusively for motorcycles. In a Bagger Beatz competition, contestants compete against one another to see who has the loudest sound system. Each contestant’s score is comprised of two components… “Peak SPL” and “Broadband Peak Average.” The Broadband Peak Average component is new and will ensure that the contestant’s sound system is capable of playing music across the entire musical spectrum. The average of these two components represents the contestant’s overall score. The contestant with the highest overall score wins.
The Bagger Beatz competition will feature 12 classes of competitions including Fairing and Non Fairing divisions in multiple total power classes.
The formation of the motorcycle audio competition format has been in the works for a while. Long time audio veteran, Scott Owens of Insane Asylum Motorsports-Phoenix AZ, was instrumental in nudging the dBDRA to launch the format. Owens started out as a dB Drag Racing competitor back in the early 2000s. He then turned his love and passion of audio into building custom audio systems for Harley’s. He continued in the audio industry on 2 wheels instead of 4 and is excited to get back into the lanes on his bike and see some stats back up on the dBDRA leaderboard. Owens is also serving on the rules committee along with Chris Lowe of Garage Bagger Stereo. Both men are motorcycle enthusiasts with a passion for audio.Lowe, owner of Garage Bagger Stereo-Greenville SC, caught the Car Audio Bug in the mid 80’s when he was only 16 years old. He was hooked after he installed his first speaker, amp, radio and sub in his ‘82 Buick Regal! He ran a car audio shop for several years before moving into the corporate world. With his passion still in audio, he installed an audio system on his first Harley that he bought in 2012. Lowe realized a need for better sounding, louder, cleaner installs on bikes, and Garage Bagger Stereo was literallly born in his garage.
After a year in the garage, Lowe moved to a 1100 square foot shop. Online sales were through the roof and bikes were rolling in from all over to have Bagger Audio upgrades. As time flew, his business grew and they moved into a larger 6000 square foot shop to fit more bikes. He was once again able to turn his passion for audio into a business. His company has grown and their main goal is to make sure their customers are happy on the road and focus on building some of the loudest, cleanest sounding, killer audio Bagger systems in the U.S.
