TORRANCE, CA (10.03.2016) – Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. has introduced an easy way for Jeep Wrangler owners to significantly upgrade the bass in their sound systems without taking up valuable cabin space. The new PWE-S8-WRA bass upgrade system is now shipping and provides enhanced sound to a Wrangler factory or aftermarket sound system.

“The PWE-S8-WRA improves the Wrangler’s sound system whether it’s a factory or aftermarket set up,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “It provides an easy bass boost that is noticeable even when the Wrangler’s top is off.”

The Alpine PWE-S8-WRA is compatible with 2011-up 4-door Jeep Wranglers that do not have the premium OEM sound system with the factory subwoofer, or it can be used with an aftermarket system. It consists of the PWE-S8 compact powered 8-inch subwoofer, a custom mounting bracket, a subwoofer level knob, and a Wrangler-specific wiring harness for plug-and-play installation. The PWE-S8 is a compact powered 8-inch subwoofer paired with a built-in 120W amplifier, housed together in a cast aluminum enclosure. It mounts under the driver’s seat so it does not take up usable cabin space. The custom installation bracket keeps the subwoofer off the floor to prevent against possible water intrusion during off-road activities and ensures for a secure installation against the bumps and jolts that Wrangler owners put their vehicles through. Despite the PWE-S8’s compact size of 13.5” L x 9” W x 3” D, it delivers low, punchy, accurate bass even when the Wrangler’s top is removed.

The built-in amplifier produces up to 120W of continuous power to drive a quad-coil subwoofer, reproducing smooth bass response in the 25Hz-152Hz frequency range. The PWE-S8 connects to the sound system through auto-sensing speaker level inputs located on the side panel. Controls for phase, gain, low pass crossover and remote sub level can also be adjusted from the side panel, while the included subwoofer level knob lets the driver easily make bass level adjustments right from the dash.

The PWE-S8-WRA is available now for $550 SRI. Visit www.alpine-usa.com for a store locator.
