Industry Members Come Together to Honor and Remember Vern Goin Plus Assist Family

OCALA, FL (06.03.2016) – Vern Goin, and his grandson Mikey Popoca, were recently killed in an automobile accident by a drunk driver. Goin was a long term retailer in Florida and friend to many across the 12volt industry.

To honor and remember Goin two prominent area retailers, Ocala Car Audio and Kent’s Kar Tunes, hosted an event as a fundraiser for Goin’s daughter Tonya.



The event was held at the Ocala Car Audio location and hosted by Kent’s Car Stereo.

Parish Tanner, Ocala Car Audio, said, “We had a great turnout and terrific support from factory reps in the area. Not only reps that we do business with but others that new Vern through the years. We even had people drive down from Alabama to show respect and memorialize Vern. We had donations from AAMP Global, Memphis Audio and Kenwood. With other donations today we have raised over $6000 to help Tonya as she recovers from this terrible tragedy.”


During the day, more than 200 attended the event honoring Vern Goin at Ocala Car Audio in Ocala, FL.

Bill Freeman, MAG Sales, offered, “The effort that these two retailers dedicated organize this event to honor Vern was over the top. Vern was a great customer of mine for years and it was great to see 12volt industry members come together with generous donations in this time of great need for Tonya.”



Kent Keith, owner of Kent’s Car Stereo, commented to 12voltnews.com, “I and my family are devastated. Vern was the reason I am in business today I worked for Vern over a 10 years and ultimately he GAVE me the store that I operate today. It was a privilege on my part to help put the event together in Vern’s honor and to help Tonya.”
