ERIE, PA (08.04.2015) – Custom Audio’s annual Shake the Lake MECA event, Sunday July 26th, actually SHOOK The Lake.Sondralee Orengia, Custom Audio owner, stated, “We had well over 50 competitors in the MECA lanes plus the Show and Shine entries. Spectators stopped in the store’s parking lot throughout the event check out the action in front of the store.”
MECA Commish Steve Stern, with son Ethan riding shotgun, made the 700 mile trip from Nashville to be the head judge behind the meters at the event.
“Mike, the Custom Audio event was terrific. The competitors really put a lot of work into their vehicles. We had some really loud cars plus a good number in the lanes with an eye to sound quality. There were easily 350 to 400 spectators in the parking lot during the afternoon event. I saw Sondralee and store staff members talking to several consumers about systems and know there were at least 4 strong quotes for jobs. In addition we signed up 9 new MECA members. An event like Shake the Lake is a big win – for the 12volt industry, Custom Audio as a retailer, the MECA competitors and MECA as an organization,” Stern related to 12voltnews.com
Chris Zenner, Mobile Electronics-Washington, PA was the SQL judge. SPL judges on site included Joe Ault, Chris Miller and Herb Phillips.
Noted area competitor “The Soda Pop Kid” had the loudest vehicle on site.
Area competitors, and Custom Audio customers, were in the audience for a Saturday evening performance by Steve Stern. Stern is a noted guitarist and vocal talent in Nashville.
Custom Audio, a MECA Retail Member of the Year, as a company stresses buying local and connecting with area consumers and organizations. A portion of the revenue generated from MECA event was donated to local Anna Animal Shelter.The pizza parlor in the Custom Audio center also had an exceptionally strong day as well.
Stern concluded, “The Shake the Lake event is our major 12volt event near summer’s end. We promote the event for several months out. This year we had a Skype call with Steve. From his Nashville studio he took questions from competitors who were preparing for the Shake the lake event. We hd about a dozen competitors in the store that evening for the Skype call.”
