EDMOND, OK (10.20.2014) – Petra Industries, the nation’s leading wholesale distributor of consumer electronics, wireless, custom installation products, mobile audio/video accessories and appliance connection supplies, is pleased to announce it’s 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $70,000 to support Whiz Kids and Mercy Ministries of America.
“Each year we ask our business partners to donate their time and money to these charities and each year they go above and beyond the call and it is because of their support that this tournament is such a success,” said Bill Stewart, CEO and Founder of Petra Industries. “Both of these organizations do incredible work and we at Petra are always overjoyed that we can do a little bit to help them continue with their missions.”
More than 150 of Petra’s vendors and partners participated in this annual event. The festivities kicked off on Wednesday, October 15 with a cocktail reception and Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at the Fox & Hound Pub and Grille. The following day participants teed off with a shotgun start best-ball scramble at Oak Tree Golf Country Club in Edmond, Okla. The tournament concluded with a luncheon for all attendees and prizes were awarded for best team score, longest drive, longest putt and closest to this pin on designated holes. New to this years tournament was a marshmallow buster competition and an award was given to the golfer who teed up a marshmallow and hit the furthest. Hundreds of donated raffle prizes were awarded and the luncheon was concluded with Bill Stewart, CEO of Petra industries, presenting checks for $35,000 each to Bea Jai Webb, Director of Whiz Kids Oklahoma, and Lauren Hobar, Director of Development, Mercy Ministries of America.
“As the need grows in Oklahoma City for a place where at-risk children can grow to reach their full potential and know that they have someone on their side, Whiz Kids too must grow and it is through faithful partners like Petra that we are able to do this,” said Bea Jai Webb, Director of Whiz Kids. “They have been a generous contributor and supporter for many years and because of their support we are able to give even more children an opportunity for a successful life.”
“Mercy ministries provides residential, free-of charge professional counseling and support for women ages 13-28 who are battling life-controlling issues,” said Lauren Hobar, Director of Development at Mercy Ministries. “We are also privately funded and rely solely on donations and without the generous support of partners like Petra, thousands of girls would go without the help they need.”
