KANSAS CITY, MO (05.08.2013) – CPS Distributors invited dealers throughout the Midwest to the company’s Spring Fun Friday Event – May 3rd. Unfortunately Mother Nature decided to make an uninvited, late spring stop in the Midwest.
“We certainly felt we had held off long enough that weather wouldn’t be a factor – but Mother Nature wasn’t done with the Midwest yet in 2013. Cold temperatures, rain, sleet, snow and hail pelted the area on Thursday. Friday’s cold wind and rain wasn’t the ideal tailgating weather we had planned for our outdoor Fun Friday activities in front of the CPS facility” Shawn Spedding, CPS Sales Manager, related to 12voltnews.com.

The inclement weather did not keep dealers away. Continuing Spedding commented “Doug Hanson from Elite Video in Thief River MN and Mike Brogan, Mach 1 in Minneapolis, each made the trip across several states to attend our 2013 Fun Friday event. In addition we welcomed dealers from Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa. Overall, knowing the winter storm advisories would be on everyone’s mind, we were pleased with the turnout” Spedding added.
CPS President Larry Shandy stated to 12voltnews.com “All in all it turned out to be a great event. Factory staff members and our staff were able to spend more time going over each line and show deals. Saleswise this was our best Fun Friday to date.”
Don Montgomery – on site with Lightning Audio, Renegade and Helix – commented to 12voltnews.com “It was definitely a freak winter storm that hit the Midwest the first week of May. Dealers from the territory showed up and took advantage of the Fun Friday specials. Several new customers for the brands I represented at the show came on board at the event. The night of bowling, beer and food at Strikers capped a very eventful day.”
Rick Ross was in the house with a Scosche Scion. Sony’s Mustang, loaded and tricked with Lambo doors, had Ryan Kuhlmann at the wheel. A ski rig, highlighting CPS Products lighted speakers, drew looks throughout the day. A cool green Malibu featured gear from the 2013 Memphis Car Audio line.
Sony came prepared with a display loaded with Sony and competitors products in similar price ranges. An A/B listening test, at the same volume, demonstrated the sound quality built into the Sony speakers.
The CPS sales team from the territory traveled to Kansas City to work with dealers. Fred Isensee from St Louis, Shawn Hansen from Minnesota, Simon Rosas from Grand Isle NE joined Kansas City based Jake Landon to show dealers the super show deals. Anthony Perniciaro, inside sales, worked with the sales team and kept the invoicing process running smoothly.
CPS also had strong show support from Bassworx, GTR Lighting, CompuStar and Scytek.
Product education sessions were presented from Sony, Lightning Audio and CompuStar. There was plenty of free stuff and a raffle drawing on the hour, every hour. A Sony flat panel is now in the home of a lucky dealer.
“After the activities throughout the day we wrapped up Fun Friday with an evening at Strikers Entertainment Center in Independence for appetizers, beer and bowling. We had lanes set aside for CPS and all had a very enjoyable evening. Our Fun Friday event was designed as a 12volt retailer’s ticket to profit for the car stereo season. Despite Mother Nature we feel that was accomplished. A huge thanks to our vendor partners and CPS staff forgoing the extra mile for our dealers” Spedding concluded.
