Nashville, TN (09.14.12)– MECA, the Mobile Electronics Competition Association, is celebrating the organization’s 14th season, sanctioning car audio contests in 2012.
Sound Pressure League and Sound Quality League champions will be crowned during the MECA Finals at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville on the weekend of October 13-14th. 150+ vehicles are expected for the annual World Finals Soundfest. In addition to SPL and SQL contests, MECA will also feature Ride The Light neon and specialty lighting exhibition/competition on Saturday night and Show & Shine car/truck/motorcycle show/competition on Sunday.
“On balance 2012 has been a very good year for MECA and our members. We added over 350 competitor members plus over two dozen new retail members joined our ranks. There are already conversations taking place about the 2013 schedule – Canada could be in the picture again. We are looking forward to a spirited competition scene at the Finals in Nashville,” MECA Commish Steve Stern related to 12voltnews.com.
Contestants must be qualified MECA Members to compete in SQL and SPL contests at this event. Members have been working to earn their qualifications and credentials throughout the season.
Linear Power and Blues Car Audio are SQL sponsors, and Ohio Generator and XS Power Batteries are SPL sponsors. New Manufacturer Member PHD will also be showcasing their new products.
Commissioner Steve Stern has spent the past 10 months planning the event, and is working with a top-notch Judge Team to handle all aspects of competition scoring. MECA presents World Champs with enormous 6′ trophies, and awards through 5th place in each contest.
The 2012 Awards Banquet will be held Saturday evening, with 250 guests anticipated. Club recognition awards for 40+ categories and 100’s of State Champions certificates will be presented at the ceremony following the banquet.
