“When I went to check on Bryan’s Mobile Solutions session it was standing room only. There was not an empty seat and people were standing all around the perimeter of the room. It was wonderful to see Bryan showing all of these installers how to improve their skills and add to the enjoyment of the shop’s customers and make OEM installations more profitable” Michelle Schmitt related to 12voltnews.com.
The three morning tracks finished just prior to noon and the opening of the show floor. The “Young Guns Power Panel” was the Monday keynote. Five innovative and successful retailers from various parts of the U.S. shared their experiences for success in a panel forum moderated by MERA President Chris Cook.
12voltnews.com heard comments like “These guys really know what they are talking about”, “This panel discussion was the highlight of my trip to Dallas”, “I never thought of trying that” and “I can see how I can use that idea in my store immediately”.
The show floor was open from Noon until 5PM on Monday afternoon. Over 50 brands showed their latest products, worked with existing dealers and talked with prospects. “The Morel VW Jetta really impressed every dealer who got in for a demo” Casey Thorson commented to 12voltnews.com.
Kicker’s F-150 and Chevy Cruze showed new products from Kicker’s Soundgate line that were designed specifically to integrate into factory setups. The Audioformz Polaris Ranger demo, with Loren Fredueu at the controls, was literally a barrel of fun. An array of wooden barrels, speaker pods, LED’s and a lot of SPL drew attendees to the rig.
Sony’s Lambo and Nissan GT-R drew a steady crowd to the booth to see the super MirrorLink demo by Mike Eckley. The bright green Lambo was the Taka Noguchi model arranged by MarketStar’s Tony Huynh was the hot ticket. The Sony Ferrari was parked outside for “errands”. In the 3M booth red Lambo was used to demonstrate the ease of installation for the 1080 3M body wrap film. Steve Burns did a great job.
The Bentley in the Focal booth was another very high dollar vehicle on the floor Pete Daley of Marketing Professionals was behind that project. At least a dozen other brands had striking demo vehicles in place also.
Wetsounds utilized a T-Rex and Tige ski rig to shake the walls of the convention center. Attendees at other conventions taking place at the Gaylord got a real dose of bass late Monday afternoon as the show at Knowledgefest 2012 was winding down.
Manufacturer training sessions continued from 5PM until 7 Monday evening.
“LIVE” took center stage in the Glass Cactus Club beginning at 7:30. SiriusXM, Audiovox and Sony rolled out the red carpet for attendees with terrific buffets, carving stations and plenty of refreshments. A little early quiet time on the outdoor deck, overlooking Grapevine Lake, was followed by a great set from the Todd Goodnight approved Dave Whiteman Band. Great music, stage lighting and a rockin sound system set the for a great wrap to the last full day of activities at Knowledgefest 2012.
