*UPDATE* Knowledgefest – Sunday Recap – Industry Awards

Chris Cook welcomes members of the 12volt industry to the Sunday keynote luncheon that followed the opening of the Knowledgefest 2012 exhibit floor.

Dallas, TX (08.20.12) – The first full day of the 2012 MERA Knowledgfest was Sunday, August 19th. From 8AM, when the first series educational tracks began, until the end of the Mobile Electronics Magazine Industry Awards ceremony the day was jam-packed with activities for attendees.

Knowledgefest 2012 features educational tracks created specifically for 12volt industry members working as management, sales staff and installation professionals. The Sunday morning schedule featured presentations in 3 time slots. Several of the sessions were standing room only.

Del Ellis kept the members of his audience on their toes with real world examples.

After a knowledge filled morning all were prepared for a hearty lunch. The Sunday lunch keynote presenter was Steve Koering from the Consumer Electronics Association. Koering detailed the many factors that contribute to the state of the world and U.S. economies and their influence on the purchase decisions made by U.S. consumers. Charts and graphs made it crystal clear that times continue to change and all retailers must aggressive, and aware of market conditions, in their quest to attract consumers to their respective storefronts.

The Knowledgefest exhibit floor was open during the luncheon keynote. Most attendees were anxious to check out the latest products and programs from the 50 plus brands that filled the convention center floor. Sony rolled out the MirrorLink line of in-dash receivers that furthers the integration of smartphone applications in the in-vehicle world. The bright green Lambo gave a green light to the launch of the MirrorLink in the U.S.

The Rockford Fosgate family of brands was on display in the company’s very active booth. A highlight was the introduction of the LA One series. 10″ and 12″ subs lead the way for this new series.

Dealers packed the aisles of the show floor early Sunday afternoon.

Parrot’s double DIN Asteroid was in the house. This long awaited addition to the company’s in-dash product mix has been long anticipated. More on this new model soon on 12voltnews.com.

The show floor closed at 5PM and was followed by two time slots filled with manufacturer specific training sessions. 12voltnews.com popped in for images at several session. Most were very well attended. The Memphis Car Audio session, presented by Andy Allen, was Standing Room Only.
