Petra And Its Partners Raise A Record $70K

For Mercy Ministries of America and Whiz Kids Through Its 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

EDMOND, OK (10.19.11) — Petra Industries, the nation’s leading wholesale distributor of consumer electronics, custom installation products, mobile audio/video accessories and appliance connection supplies, is pleased to announce its 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $70,000 to support Mercy Ministries of America and Whiz Kids.

“We look forward each year to holding this charity golf tournament and could not do so without the incredible support of our vendors and business partners,” says Bill Stewart, President/CEO of Petra Industries. “The generosity this year was simply over the top and we were able to raise an additional $10,000 in funds to donate to Mercy Ministries and Whiz Kids.”

This year’s tournament generated more participation than any previous year’s event with more than 150 of Petra’s vendors, partners and employees enjoying a cocktail reception and Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at Fox & Hound Pub and Grille on October 12. Following the evening’s festivities, all participants teed it up with a shotgun-start golf scramble at Oak Tree Golf Country Club in Edmond, Okla., the morning of October 13. The tournament concluded with a luncheon for all attendees and prizes were awarded for best team score, longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin. A prize raffle was also held and the day concluded with Bill Stewart, President/CEO of Petra Industries, presenting checks for $35,000 each to Nancy Alcorn, Founder and President of Mercy Ministries of America, and Masie Bross, Director for Whiz Kids.

“As the need in Oklahoma City Public Schools grows, our opportunity has grown to provide services to children at risk for school failure.  Petra has been a faithful partner to us for many years, providing the means for us to continually grow, ” says Masie Bross, Program Director for Whiz Kids. “This year we will serve over 850 students, providing for them an open door into improved reading and a chance to be successful in school and in life.”
