Wixom, MI (May 12, 2010) Laws mandating handsfree cell phone use have hit the books in sates across the US in the past couple of years. Now many states are rushing to enact legislation against texting while driving. Recently the Governor of Michigan made an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show to outline the steps her state is taking to curtail testing while driving. Oprah has recently initiated her own campaign against cell phone use while driving.
Got2bWireless, and the company’s Got2bVoice service, are gaining significant traction every day with their cutting edge offerings. Speaking for Got2bWireless Tim Suri told 12voltnews.com “Since our launch at CTIA last fall our phone has not stopped ringing and our email requests for info have been through the roof. Our products fill a definite need and the marketplace has noticed and responded in a major way”. Continuing Suri commented “Our Got2bVoice service which offers speech to text email, as well as a number of other convenience features, is the right product and the right time. Drivers can send and listen to emails while their eyes are on the road and their hands are on the wheel”.
WXYZ TV, the ABC affiliate in Detroit, recently filled the airwaves with segments driving home the dangers of texting while driving. Their segments featured Suri and Got2bWireless. In addition the station noted local retailers Mickey Schorr and ABC Warehouse, along with area dealer Duke’s Car Stereo, as retailers who carry the Got2bWireless and Got2bVoice products.
Duke’s Car Stereo, with headquarters in Flint, has received calls from a number of consumers who saw the feature on WXYZ TV. Mark Cormier told 12voltnews.com “Surprisingly we have received calls stemming from the stories on TV in the Detroit market. We brought the Got2bWireless line in and have sold and installed several units – all at a good margin”.
Duke’s staffers created a working Got2bWireless display on the soundboard in the Miller Road location. Store manager Scott Janiski relayed the details to 12voltnews.com. “Basically we used the box top from the Got2bWireless handsfree kit. I took a rule and Xacto knife to make a very clean cut to separate the box top of the G2-2200. Turns out that piece is about the size of a double DIN headunit. We punched a small hole for controller wire and mounted the actual control module with 2 sided tape over the controller image on the box top. We then attached the microphone, ran power and positioned our new Got2bWireless display in a slot on the soundboard. It looks great and works great. I paired my cell phone and now we have an easy to use and effective demo for customers. Customers are amazed at the ease of use and voice quality”.
Detroit based power retailer Mickey Schorr is also seeing interest and store traffic from the awareness campaign that aired on WXYZ TV. General Manager Jeff Pitts commented to 12voltnews.com “There is a lot of buzz in Michigan regarding the new handsfree and texting legislation. We just put the Got2bWireless product into inventory at our 16 locations and are seeing sales activity. Our staffs received sales training and are prepared to sell this exciting new technology”.
Progressive Sales and Marketing is the Got2bWireless rep firm in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Company VP Jason Dubie told 12voltnews.com “When the segments started to air on WXYZ TV it was like turning on a light switch. We started to get leads from everywhere. Prior to the TV exposure we had placed Got2bWireless in about 70 storefronts and worked with their staffs in sales training sessions. Duke’s, ABC Warehouse and Mickey Schorr were among the first retailers to put the product on their shelves in the Flint and Detroit areas.
