Tulsa, OK – The dB Drag Racing and USACi Unified World Finals filled the Tulsa Convention Center in downtown Tulsa on Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd & 4th. CarToys, a key 12volt retailer in the Tulsa marketplace, was the host retailer.
dB Drag Racing’s Wayne Harris, CarToy’s Rob Rice and USACi’s Ralph Randall were in total agreement that the event came off without a hitch. In fact Randall commented it was the smoothest USACi World Finals to date.
The showfloor was filled with dB Drag Racing competitors one one end, vendor exhibits in the center and USACi competitors on the opposite end. The DB Drive semi dominated the showfloor showing the dB Drive, Hypnotic and Quantum brands in demo vehicles. Also exhibiting on the showfloor were Digital Designs, StreetVideo, Memphis Car Audio, Vibe, Fulmer Helments, Tsunami, Batcap, Merlon, Kinetik and XS Power.
In the oversized CarToys exhibit – JL Audio, JBL, Kenwood, Focal, Eclipse, AutoPage and Hushmat had a major presence.
Adding to the excitement on the showfloor was an inflatable ring for the Slick Chix oil wrestling bouts. Kinetik sponsored Slick Chix for the Finals event.
CarToys’ Rob Rice told 12voltnews.com, “We really promoted the Finals and our huge sale heavily. Around town we had 5 billboards plus a rolling billboard, used 2 top radio stations, passed out thousands of fliers and ran a schedule on Cox Cable. In addition we were in a couple of local social papers including the Urban Tulsa. As fate would have it we were up against the opening weekend of the state fair which undoubtedly had an affect on our overall crowd.” Rice continued “Our sales were OK- well into five figures. We thank our vendors for their support and to our staff that worked to get ready for the event and then worked the show on the weekend.”
“All of our competitors had a great time,” dB Drag Racing’s Harris observed. “The guys from western Canada drove 43 hours straight to compete. Others came from as far away as Florida. The venue was outstanding and the showfloor had a solid feel and look”.
The dB Drag Racing competition included concurrent Finals events in Hamburg, Germany for Europe and Serra Negra, Brazil for the South American Finals. Five vehicles on 3 continents competed in the storied “Death Match”.
“For a first-time Tulsa event, and up against the State Fair, this year’s Unified Finals was a success. All told there were over 200 vehicles on the showfloor. The SQ event featured 24 of the best vehicles on the planet” Randall said.
This year’s after party, sponsored by SoundStream, raised the bar to a new level. A main ballroom in the downtown Double Tree hotel was set to seat 400. The ballroom was filled to capacity and overflowed into the hallways. Soundstream’s Grizz Archer told 12voltnews.com, “Sponsoring the After Party put Soundstream in front of a large group of competitors and enthusiasts. We were able to walk the showfloor, help tune vehicles and shmooze. When the After Party started, SoundStream was front and center. Everyone enjoyed the food and had a chance to relax.”
The Slick Chix staged a late night, no holds barred, show during the After Party. Many learned that pasties don’t stick to skin covered with baby oil!
In a post show interview, Car Toy’s Charles Stewart told 12voltnews.com, “We saw a lot of new faces at the event and have been busy installing equipment sold at the show. Subs, speakers and indash navigation were the hot sellers.”
