Arlington, TX – Founded in 1999, Audio Depot is located in Arlington, TX, right between Dallas and Fort Worth in the very competitive metroplex.

Owner John Schellsmidt told 12voltnews.com “We stay very active with events designed to generate traffic in our store and build strong customer relationships. Traditional radio and TV ads are very expensive and didn’t pull for us in the past. Our parking lot events draw the right consumers who turn into customers.”

On Saturday evening, July 11th, Audio Depot hosted the company’s second event of 2009. The event started at 5PM and lasted til 9 PM in an effort to beat the Texas heat. This event drew a crowd of over 125 consumers. Tents and demo vehicles in the parking lot, a DJ and Guitar Hero contests along with refreshments kept the crowd entertained and engaged.

The Guitar Hero contest was conducted in a Tahoe outfitted by Audio Depot for an area business, ‘Play and Trade’. The video game retailer uses the Tahoe, equipped with a 42” monitor and Xbox 360, in many promotions. There is a high percentage of crossover consumers.

Kimon Wherley, who heads up Audio Depot’s installations department observed “We came in Monday morning with 6 custom enclosures to build with amps and subs. At least 3 of these systems came from our Saturday evening parking lot event. Consumers hear and see systems in our demo vehicles and want that sound and look in their vehicles.”

Schellsmidt continued “An event like the Saturday night is done with a small budget. Word of mouth is a key for us. Our vendors and reps support us at these events – Eclipse, Focal and Jeremy Clutts with ERA Marketing always lend a helping hand. Memphis, Kenwood/Sunbelt, RE Audio and DEI are also very supportive.”

Audio Depot continually promotes their services to car dealerships – new and used. A recent project included an install that totally tricked out a Scion xB for the dealers’ lot. Custom OEM work, Bluetooth and in-dash head units, tint, alarms plus amps/subs/enclosures are hot product categories.

Schellsmidt concluded “We really like to connect with the community. At this past event we used the proceeds of the raffle to help set up a scholarship fund in memory of a local couple’s daughter.”

Look for Audio Depot to host one more late summer event just prior to students returning to classrooms.
